The coca shrub is indigenous to South America, Mexico, Indonesia, and the West Indies. It is one of the oldest cultivated plants of South America. Cultivated coca plants belong to two distinct species of the genus Erythroxylum (family Erythroxylaceae): Erythroxylum coca Lam.

These can be made wet and mulched down for millipede diets, or just placed in your vivarium dry. In high humidity, or if in contact with water for prolonged time, these may break down, as a natural product, and will provide food for custodians in a bioactive enclosure as well. These items can be used in aquatic enviroments, will break down over time and release tannins.
